Philosophy

The Mingus Springs Charter School philosophy believes that the elementary and middle school years are of critical importance not only for the children’s long-term academic achievement, but also for their abiding sense of self-esteem.

Mingus Springs Charter School believes that the best strategy for dealing with the age effect and for giving the majority of children entering the school a chance to develop a healthy and robust liking for themselves, for learning, and for schooling, is small manageable classrooms with multiage grouping.

Mission Statement

Mingus Springs Charter School is designed to provide a progressive learning environment for quality education that will promote academic success and high self esteem for all students. Mingus Springs Charter School is committed to the development of academically and socially self directed students.

Enrollment Procedures

The maximum enrollment for Mingus Springs School is 180 students, ages 5-14 (grade equivalents K-8). Parents interested in enrolling their children must fill out an application. Students with completed applications are then placed on a waiting list according to grade level. A child must be four (4) years old by September 1 of the current year in order to be placed on the waiting list. Applications are filed in the order in which they are received. When a position becomes available, students are taken from the waiting list according to grade level and gender of the opening.  Applications may be picked up at the office, or sent through the mail.  Please note our address, phone, fax and email on our home page.
